The BQT® can drive growth in the osteoporosis testing and drug markets

Crescent Diagnostics is developing a new prognostic marker for fracture risk which will make a simple to use test available to primary care physicians.

The new Bone Quality Test (BQT®) will enable earlier identification and treatment of women at risk in the primary care environment where the need is greatest.

  • Under-diagnosis is a major problem in osteoporosis today with just 12-24% of at-risk women tested in the US today
  • The health economic cost of the 294,000 hip fractures in the US in 2005 was $6bn
  • ¹Hip fracture is the most serious kind of fracture and has worse Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) figures than many cancers including breast cancer
  • ²More than 60m women over 50 are at risk in the US alone
